Sustainable House Day

I thought my readers might be interested in some upcoming events put on by Renew as an extension to their annual Sustainable House Day.

A timber house with sloping roof standing on a grassy field at evening.

Renew has been active on sustainable housing for over forty years, and publishes a couple of great magazines on sustainable building and living. They are also strong advocates for policies and approaches that make housing more sustainable.

Through March and April, they will be hosting a series of eight online sessions on a range of issues related to green building. These include sessions on planning, finding the right team, sustainable building materials, glazing, passive solar design, insultation and energy efficiency, getting off gas and choosing the right solar energy system. Sessions generally go for one and a half or two hours, and maximum cost for any single session is $10. You can subscribe to the whole series for $60.

These sessions are designed for all housing, not specifically for social and affordable housing but I suspect anyone involved in public or community housing development would get value out of them.
